This was a good race!

I ran/walked this race with my niece—she’s 6 1/2. It was her first ‘official’ 5K, even though she ran it last year with us she wasn’t registered so she didn’t get a shirt or an official time. This year, she got the shirt, the bib, and the excitement of crossing the finish line with a time!!

I love the Turkey Dash because it’s just fun to wake up on Thanksgiving morning, in the cold with tons of other people dressed like crazy people, and run around a local neighborhood before you stuff yourselves full of turkey later :) My family has done this for the past few years and I think we’ll continue doing it until we can’t anymore.

This year was COOOOOOLD!!!!! So so so so cold. But, we bundled up as best as we could. My niece complained pretty much the whole first mile. But then we made the rest of the race a competition to see who could beat the other to the next pole, or sign, or mailbox. That really helped her finish strong. And when we got to her house, which is about .5 miles from the finish line, her dad had came back to run with her to the finish! He and my brother are VERY fast—my brother ended up winning 1st in his age group!! :)

We crossed the finish line a few minutes faster than last year, which is really awesome for her!! Then we smashed some pumpkin pie & hot cocoa before a real breakfast and a delicious turkey dinner later :)

It was definitely another fun, memorable year!!
