This was a great race!

We woke up surprised to find that it was 50 degrees—FIFTY!! In December in Cleveland!!! That’s almost unheard of, haha!!! But it was still a bit windy so my dad and I put on some layers and headed to our last race of 2018.

I love this race because it’s on a flat flat flat course. Flat. All the way. Which is amazing. Unfortunately I was fighting the beginning of a sinus infection so my chest was congested & I wasn’t really feeling up to running this race, but I knew I would make it since it was a nearly perfect day ;)

I was pushing myself without realizing it, so I stopped to walk just after the first mile, then ran again until right before mile 2. Then ran walked a little until the end, but I still finished in a faster time than the day before and that made me happy!!!

Whenever I run a race, I always thank the volunteers & cops helping with the road closures & water stops & mile timings. We would not be able to run these races successfully if we didn’t have this kind of help, and I wish more people would thank them. I literally say “Thank You!” to every volunteer on the course and I love seeing their look of gratitude or surprise on their face when I acknowledge them. At the water stop on this race, I heard a lady behind me go “Oh, she’s thanking everyone…that’s so nice!”…which made me laugh a little, but she just went back to talking with her friends instead of thanking everyone as well. Not that I was expecting her to follow my lead…but it was just an interesting observation :)

I got to cheer for my dad across the finish line which is one of my favorite things to do, and then we enjoyed the rest of the morning with our family.

I love ending the year with this race with my dad!
