Not even going to lie, I didn't love this race. Mostly because I had been fighting Vertigo for a week, and then a small headache when I woke up. I also hadn't kept up with my running or fitness really as much or hard as I have in the past few months.

But I ran/walked my way to the start line--it was only about a mile from my apartment. It was a gorgeous day so that made it nicer! And I was running for #TeamMoreFit, my fitness studio I've been going to for a few years! That made it a lot more fun to see people there cheering us all on.

We got started and I knew it would be a tough run because I was struggling to breathe before Mile 1. I'd like to blame it on allergies, which could have had a lot to do with it, but I also know that I just wasn't 'in shape' for this race. Oh well, we all have bad days.

This was only the 2nd year they did this race & my first time running it. I found it really odd that they really didn't close off ANY of the streets we ran down....they just had police directing traffic on the main intersections. But even though they had big signs at the front of developments to say there was a street closure on Saturday morning, people clearly didn't care and were driving down the streets and getting angry at us. I GET IT....if I were in that neighborhood and either 1) didn't know about the race, or 2) really needed to leave....I would get angry, too. But there were only 200 people....it wasn't a lot and they really only had to wait about 10 minutes for us to all get through instead of driving carelessly and ignoring the volunteers trying to stop them. Grrr >:-[ STILL....I think the race directors or the city could have done a better job at communicating to people....

Anyway, I finished at 36:32--they only had a timer at the finish line, not at the start, so I'm glad I had my watch to capture my time more accurately, but when we got the results it was just 1 second off, so that's good. I found my friends from the fitness studio and then started my walk back home. I had planned to run, but my vertigo was so bad that I felt as if I was walking sideways the whole time :( It was awful. I spent the rest of the day laying down and slept for quite a bit.

So, this race wasn't my best OR my favorite. But that's OK. Not every race will be great, or amazing, or the best ever. But they all play a role in getting you to reach your next goal and that's what this did for me!
